UPDATE: Follow live Penn State-Drexel updates here.
It’s match day, Penn State fans. The No. 1 Nittany Lions are on the road tonight when they take on Drexel in a dual meet at the DAC Center in Philadelphia. This is the third time the two programs will meet. PSU has won the first two meetings, with the most recent one coming last winter, when the Lions won 42-3.
“I thought Drexel did a real nice job,” Lions coach Cael Sanderson said after that win early in the 2024-2025 season. “A lot of close matches coming down to the end. That’s good experience for our guys. Some of our guys haven’t had a lot of opportunities in the past. First week of the season for us. We just went out to compete and see if we can get better.”

Two questions for the Nittany Lions
Both focus on wrestlers with injuries. The Nittany Lions’ 141-pound starter, Aaron Nago, left his championship match at the Army Black Knight Invitational with an injury. It’s unclear if he will be able to go tonight. If he cannot, will Sanderson and co., turn to redshirt freshman Cael Nasdeo or junior Braeden Davis? Our view is that if Davis goes, his redshirt will be pulled because Nagao has a long-term injury. If Nasdeo goes, it means Nagao will likely return to action sooner rather than later.
From there, we’ll be keeping an eye on the weigh-in sheet at 197 pounds. Returning All-American Josh Barr hurt his ribs at the U23 World Championships in late October. It is a short-term injury. But, it’s unclear if he’ll be ready to return to action tonight. If not, redshirt freshman Connor Mirasola will continue to hold down that spot in the lineup for the Lions.
