LOS ANGELES — Penn State is waking up under sunny skies today here on the West Coast as it gets ready for its first road game and second Big Ten contest of the season. The Lions take on UCLA today at the Rose Bowl. The Bruins have an interim head coach (Tim Skipper), a second-week defensive coordinator (Kevin Coyle), and a first-time offensive coordinator (Jerry Neuheisel). It is a unique setup that can be credited to a 0-4 start, which is something James Franklin has never seen before.

“We got to handle it well,” Franklin said Wednesday night. “You look at these West Coast trips or East Coast trips in the conference, some schools have really struggled with that. So, we got to do a good job. And then, just all the uncertainty that comes with this opponent and UCLA with the amount of changes that they’ve had. … I’ve never really seen anything like this.”
