More impressions from Penn State’s media day

Earlier in the week, T-Frank shared what he saw and heard with fans after Tuesday’s press availability. Today, Fitz discusses which players he spoke with and what interesting things he learned. One player that stood out was second-year offensive tackle, Drew Shelton. Fitz described him as having a “good tackle body.” T-Frank follows up with him to find out what he means by that. They also debate about where linebacker Keon Wylie fits bets in the defense and how impressive Malik McClain has been so far.

Finally, they get into the mailbag questions. First up is a conversation about the Penn State cornerback room. The team returns co-starters Johnny Dixon and Kalen King on the outside and slot corner Daequan Hardy on the inside. But after this year, the position thins out dramatically. One listener accurately points this out and wants to know if cornerback is a sneaky need soon. Fitz agrees and drops a comment that surprises T-Frank.

Next, they take another forward-looking question: Is this a down year for Ohio State and Michigan, and can Penn State finally close the gap? T-Frank and Fitz aren’t sure about the first part, but the optimism for 2023 is accurate. T-Frank draws a comparison from a previous Penn State team that he thinks translates accurately to the upcoming season.

They also discuss offensive line depth, Landon Tengwall’s injury situation, and have a deep discussion about the best personnel grouping to create explosive plays for the Penn State offense.
