Touchdown, Penn State
09/13/2025 05:27:38 PMTouchdown, Kaytron Allen: Nice shiftiness to find a hole and a good block by Kyron Hudson equals an 18-yard scoring scamper.
Penn State 38, Villanova 0 with 10:43 to go. Can the Lions go on a 10-0 run to close it out and earn their first cover of the year? We shall see.

The Lions give it right back
09/13/2025 04:56:46 PMDrew Allar just threw an ugly pick on 1st and 10 at the Villanova 11. That was simply horrendous. Villanova takes over at the Penn State 15.
Penn State forces a turnover
09/13/2025 04:51:40 PMThe Penn State secondary gets its first interception of the season. A Dani Dennis-Sutton QB hurry leads to a McQuaide duck that Elliot Washington II picked off and brought back to the Villanova 23 with 9:52 to go in the third quarter.
Penn State boots a field goal
09/13/2025 04:47:15 PMPenn State needed a 16-yard run from Drew Allar featuring a fantastic Nick Singleton block to pick up one third down on its opening drive of the second half. Singleton could only get two on 3rd and 6 later, though. Ryan Barker’s 42-yard attempt is good. If nothing else, you can leave the non-con slate feeling good about the field goal kicking, Penn State fans.
PSU 24, Villanova 0, with 10:02 left in the third quarter.
Today’s attendance is…
09/13/2025 04:40:53 PM109,516 fans. Not quite in reality, but in the ballpark of 105,000, for sure.

09/13/2025 04:36:45 PMThe Penn State-Villanova second half is underway. The Wildcats start at their own 13.
First half recap
09/13/2025 04:19:23 PMPenn State leads 21-0 at the half and has a 252-69 yards advantage. Aside from one busted play on 4th and 2 late in the first half that was made better by a Villanova penalty that wiped a made field goal off the board and led to a missed one, the Lions defense has been very good. The offense has been its inconsistent self. Third downs are again a major problem. But a third well-run two-minute drive in as many weeks led to a touchdown and two-point conversion to make the score what it is.
Same as it’s been, Penn State needs more consistency on offense.
James Franklin talks to the Penn State Sports Network
09/13/2025 04:16:28 PMOn the two minute drill
“We’ve been really good at the end of the half, having our timeouts, which has been helpful. We need to be better on third down. We have not been good on third down the last two games.”
On the defense
Positive for us. We’re more consistent on defense. That last drive, I wasn’t happy with. But overall, pretty good.”
It’s halftime
09/13/2025 04:15:05 PMPenn State 21, Villanova 0. A late Lions first half score made it look better than it was. Home team’s defense was very good as expected. Offense a bit shaky. The Wildcats get the ball first to start the second half.

The Lions will go for two. enn State gets the two. Beautiful throw from Drew Allar on the score. Pena catches the two-pointer as well. Lions lead Villanova 21-0 with :32 left in the half.
Villanova misses a field goal
09/13/2025 04:03:04 PMA Villanova field goal was good. But, there is a flag negating it. It’s an illegal block on Villanova that will back it up to try a longer attempt. The 47-yard re-try was no good. The Wildcats broke a 27-yard run on 4th and 2 but Penn State gives up no points and leads 13-0 with 1:08 left in the first half.
Two minute timeout time
09/13/2025 03:55:39 PMTwo-minute timeout time in State College. Penn State leads Villanova 13-0. The Wildcats have 4th and 2 at their own 44 on the other side of the break.
The Lions kick another short field goal
09/13/2025 03:45:11 PMStop me if you’ve read this before: A fine-looking Penn State drive stalls out in opponent territory. The Lions get to the Villanova 11 but no further and Ryan Barker is true on a 28-yard FG. Penn State 13, Villanova 0 w/ 6:39 left in the first half.
Penn State forces another punt
09/13/2025 03:37:23 PMThe defense is holding up its end of the bargain against an FBS school. Villanova has just six yards of total offense. But Penn State will take over leading just 10-0 because its offense continues to look as inconsistent as it did the first two weeks. Lions ball at their own 37 w/ 10:52 to go in the first half.
Pat McQuaide is back at QB for Villanova
09/13/2025 03:36:01 PMHe missed the last two series.

09/13/2025 03:32:53 PMAfter a Kaytron Allen six-yard rush on his first series of the day, Penn State goes with a pair of pass plays, both incompletions, leading to another Lions punt. Villanova takes over at its own 18, trailing 10-0.
Penn State adds a field goal
09/13/2025 03:23:34 PMAfter taking over at the Villanova 32, Penn State can only muster four yards and will try its latest field goal inside the opponent’s territory over the last three weeks. The 45-yard kick is good. PSU 10, Villanova 0, w/14:18 left in the first half.

Penn State forces a punt
09/13/2025 02:57:20 PMDespite being called for a delay of game and an offsides, tackles for loss by Tony Rojas and Zion Tracy set Villanova way off schedule, and the Wildcats just punted. Penn State takes over at its own 25 with 4:33 left in the first quarter.
Villanova starts at its own 19
09/13/2025 02:52:35 PMThe Wildcats fumbled on the return, which was attributed to Kolin Dinkins, but Villanova recovered. It starts at its own 19.
