Penn State tweets of the day

ESPN’s Jordan Reid and NFL.com’s Chad Reuter put out new seven-round NFL mock drafts ahead of the start of the pro selection process on Thursday. Each believes that a total of five former Penn State players will go off the board by the end of the fifth round on Saturday. They are also in agreement in suggesting only that quintet of one-time Nittany Lions will hear their names called before Mr. Irrelevant is selected with the last pick late Saturday afternoon.

Reid sends edge rusher Abdul Carter to New York with the No. 3 overall selection. He sends tight end Tyler Warren to Indianapolis at No. 14. Reuter has the pair going to the Giants and the Colts, as well, though he has the AFC South moving up one spot via trade to No. 13 to do so. Both also agree that safety KJ Winston will go in Round 2. But, they differ on when and where. Reuter sends him to Cincinnati at No. 49 and Reid to the Eagles at No. 64.

Safety Jaylen Reed is the next Nittany Lion off the board for both analysts. Reuter has him going to the New York Jets in Round 5 at No. 145. Reid projects he’ll go to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 156. Last but not least, linebacker Kobe King goes to the Philadelphia Eagles in Round 5 at No. 156 per Reid. Reuter sends him to the Baltimore Ravens at No. 176, which is a compensatory selection at the end of Round 5.

Quote of the day

“It was awesome to see how they plan and practice. Coach (Danny) O’Brien is phenomenal and they made a huge addition to the quarterback room bringing Trace McSorely in. I loved spending time and talking football with them.

“The makeup of the quarterback room is great and an environment I would thrive in. Everyone is close but competes hard with each other every day.”
