Headshot 5x7 reduced qualityby: Thomas Frank Carr3 hours agoThomasFrankCarr

The Penn State football team has a much-needed bye week and is working to reengineer its identity after a massively disruptive rash of losses to start the season. The team must rebuild itself without quarterback Drew Allar, star linebacker Tony Rojas, and without head coach James Franklin, who was fired after losing three straight conference games to start the season. Today on the BWI Live Show, we’ll discuss interim head coach Terry Smith’s comments from last night’s practice, the team’s decision to not show the offense during open availability, and do a stock up stock down update for the bye week. We’ll also discuss the team’s issues with complementary football

Penn State practice Update

To start, we’ll share our observations from the practice field — and there was something noticeably different this week. The offense was nowhere to be seen, while the defense focused on a key area of weakness. Typically, this period is reserved for defensive ends to work on pass-rush techniques, but the emphasis has clearly shifted. What does that tell us about the team’s priorities coming out of the bye week?

Then, in Between The Lines, the guys dive into several key position storylines that could shape the second half of Penn State’s season. What did Smith have to say about the team’s young receivers seeing the field more in the second half of the year? How does the quarterback situation look moving forward? Greg also breaks down what’s happening with the defensive ends while we dive into the team’s health issues at defensive end.

Stock up Stock down

Later, in Stock Up, Stock Down, we evaluate whose momentum is rising — and whose isn’t. Which players are surging despite the losing streak? Some players are seeing more playing time, and others are flashing despite the overall poor performance on both sides of the football. We’ll highlight which Penn State players are on the rise through the team’s shift at the top. Next, we’ll discuss which players are struggling in the new enviroment after Franklin’s firing.

Finally, the show closes with a look at the team’s biggest weakness, complementary football. examining how Penn State’s offense and defense are (or aren’t) supporting each other and what needs to change for the Nittany Lions to get back on track.

It’s a packed show filled with inside details, film insight, and honest evaluations of where Penn State stands right now — and where it’s headed next.
