Penn State news, notes, and updates for June 17 include a look at the Elite 11 Finals, headlines of the day, and more. Nittany Lions Class of 2026 commit Troy Huhn is in Los Angeles for the next three days to vie for a spot in the top 11. He was one of the last passers invited to the prestigious event, which has featured a number of PSU passers over the year. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound quarterback is a four-star who is in the top 300 in the On3 Industry Rankings.

“Obviously, there are some things I can fix up and tune up,” Huhn told BWI after the Elite 11 regional in State College. “There will always be those things. It’s just about continuing to prove myself out there. I’m glad I came out here to show people around Penn State what I’m about. I just have to continue getting better every single day.”

On3 will have updates from the Elite 11 throughout the week.

In other news, the Penn State baseball team picked up new commitment on Monday. Former Vanderbilt infielder Jayden Davis picked the Lions to start the week. And, three members of head coach Mike Gambino’s team, junior pitcher Ryan DeSanto, junior outfielder Paxton Kling, and junior shortstop Ryan Weingartner are all going to the MLB Combine. That is June 17-21 in Arizona.

Quote of the day

“When I got there on Friday, we spent a lot of time taking tours and seeing everything. It was good to learn about all of that. Friday night, we have lobster and steak for dinner. That was pretty cool. After that, I hung out with [Brian Kortovich] some, the freshman tight end from Cleveland. We went to Drew Allar’s house and hung out.

“On Saturday, I had my meeting with Coach Howle and the offensive staff. We looked at everything I’ve done and saw some of the stuff that they do. That was pretty cool. I had a meeting with Coach [James] Franklin, too. I really like Coach Franklin. You can tell he’s a genuine person. He’s intense, but you can tell he really loves his players beyond just a football standpoint.”
