Penn State cornerback Elliot Washington will enter his name into the NCAA’s transfer portal, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports. A junior from Venice, Fla., Washington has been a regular contributor for the Nittany Lions over the past three seasons. He will have one year of eligibility left. The portal opens on Jan. 2.

As a freshman, the 5-11, 200-pound defensive back made an immediate impact, playing in 10 games that season. He then had his best season in 2024, playing in 14 games, totaling 26 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception.

Washington still played in all 12 games this past season, but his playing time diminished late in the year following a rough game against Ohio State. After that, he totaled just three defensive snaps against Indiana, seven against Nebraska, and three against Rutgers. Washington finished with 18 tackles, three pass deflections and an interception.

A Class of 2023 prospect from Venice High School, Washington was previously committed to Alabama before switching his commitment to Penn State following an official visit. He finished as a four-star prospect in the Industry Rankings, coming in at No. 164 nationally and No. 19 at the cornerback position.

Washington is the second Nittany Lion to plan to hit the portal and first since the regular season ended. Tight end Joey Schlaffer left Penn State for the same reason back in November.
