Join us for today's tailgate show ahead of today's Blue-White Game.

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team hosts the annual Blue-White Game today, culminating the end of Spring camp. For fans who have not kept up with football this spring or who want a refresher of our content from the last month, join the Penn State Football Tailgate Show! We’ll discuss the team from A to Z, starting at 1 pm and going up to kickoff on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel, and on 99.5 The Bus in State College.

Penn State plan for the game

On Wednesday of this week, Franklin explained how the game will work. The starters and veterans will go first, but the majority of the true football will be with the second, third, and fourth teams.

“We will start with two skellies (skeleton drill). Then the first quarter will go thud, so everybody can get reps,” Franklin said. “Then we’ll transition second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter will be live, so we can evaluate those guys in the stadium. Kicking will be on air like it’s been in the past.”

We’ll go through the roster and discuss which players we think will get the majority of the playing time on Saturday and who fans should pay attention to. We’ll start on the offensive side of the ball and highlight the skill players and offensive linemen that fans can watch during the live portions of the game.

Of course, there’s a quarterback battle going on with the two backups to Drew Allar. We’ll discuss Penn State QBs Ethan Grunkemeyer and Jaxon Smolik during the first half of today’s tailgate Show.

Defensive players to watch and storylines from camp

Next, we’ll shift to the defense and discuss the top young defenders who should get to see the field for an extended portion of the afternoon. Which freshmen have flashed this spring? Who is on the way up under new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles? We’ll outline the major storylines from camp for fans checking in to the show. We’ll also provide an outline of what Knowles brings to Penn State and what that means for the team’s chances this fall.

The Tailgate show is just one part of our multimedia coverage on Saturday. BWI will give play-by-play during the game to fans who can’t attend. In our Instant Analysis reaction video, we’ll also recap the day’s work afterward. Finally, hear from Franklin himself postgame during his press conference to wrap up spring camp. We’ve got you covered all during the Blue-White weekend!
