Penn State has a tough task today
Much like last week against top-ranked Ohio State, Penn State is a massive underdog at home against Indiana this week. On today’s show, we’ll discuss the team’s 3-5 record and if the program can make a bowl game this year. They have four games left to win three, and that starts this afternoon.
We’ll start the show by discussing why Indiana is a particularly bad matchup from a scheme perspective for the Penn State offense and defense and how this week could potentially deliver worse results than last week’s 38-14 loss to Ohio State
Offense needs to have some versatility and let the QB throw
Next, we’ll discuss the state of the team’s offense and how, at this point, playing wide receiver Liam Clifford as a wildcat quarterback isn’t the worst option in the world, given the team’s plethora of bad options. However, a wildcat package can’t fix the team’s poor passing game that is now limited by both talent and scheme. We’ll discuss how Penn State interim coach Terry Smith vowed to change specific things on offense this week and what it means to have those plays and players in the playbook this week.
