Penn State struggles to get into the end zone
The Penn State offense put together 26 plays in its first three drives spanning the first and second quarters. That resulted in just seven points thanks to the team’s decision to go for it on fourth down on the first and third drives, resulting in a turnover.
While the team moved the ball, they once again struggled to hit big plays in the run or passing game. Allar underthrew a deep pass to Devonte Ross, which resulted in a pass interference call, and running back Nick Singleton had several big runs of ten-plus yards, but failed to convert several opportunities into explosive play touchdowns.
Finally, Drew Allar hit Ross on a 42-yard touchdown pass into contested coverage. to put Penn State up by three scores.
