Penn State lands commitment from 2026 Texas quarterback Kase Evans
Lexington (Texas) quarterback Kase Evans hopes that the third time is a charm.
The three-star signal caller originally committed to Oklahoma State over the summer, but Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy was fired in September. After opening up his recruitment, Evans found his way to Matt Campbell and Iowa State, where he signed on Dec. 3. Campbell left Ames for Penn State a few days later, prompting Evans to ask out of his paperwork with Iowa State.
On Thursday, he was granted his release. On Saturday, he announced that he was following Campbell to Happy Valley. Evans became Campbell’s first commitment in the Class of 2026.
“Coach Campbell is just sincere and truly cares about you,” Evans told Rivals national analyst Steve Wiltfong. “He and his staff are simply terrific and have proven that already. His ability to connect with his players on a personal level. He truly cares about his players and their path moving forward. Not only that, but he sees past football. He makes sure he is developing [successful] men, not just football players.”

The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Evans is the No. 1188 overall prospect and No. 64 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. Rivals, however, is a bit higher on him than the industry and tabs him as the nation’s No. 50 passer.

Evans threw for 11,640 yards and 120 touchdowns in four years of high school. As a junior last fall, he threw for 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns, while completing 210-for-343 passing attempts (.612). He followed that up as a senior by throwing for nearly 3,000 more yards and 29 touchdowns, while adding another 559 yards and six scores on the ground.
His father, Chandler Evans, played quarterback at the University of Houston and Texas A&M-Commerce in the early 1990s. Evans has not been to Penn State, but he’ll get a chance to check it out when he arrives in January for the spring semester. He was set to head to Ames next month, but now he’ll follow Campbell.
Penn State now has three commitments in the Class of 2026, with Evans joining December signees Jackson Ford and Peyton Falzone.
