Penn State struggle on offense in another big game

The Penn State offense failed to show up in another big game. The team gained just 69 yards in the first half and scored a field goal early in the game. Unsurprisingly, the offense was poor on third down again tonight, going only 4-11 (36%) through the third quarter.

The offense woke up late, with a 34-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Drew Allar to receiver Devonte Ross. Penn State had the ball with four minutes left in the game, down seven points, Ross punched the ball into the end zone to force overtime.

However, in the second overtime, the Penn State defense ran out of juice and allowed a touchdown to Gary Bryant. The offense failed to counter and lost in overtime.

Defense plays a warrior’s game

With the offense struggling, the Nittany Lions defense was able to keep the team in the game against an explosive and dangerous Oregon offense. Penn State gave up yards, but kept a lid on Dakorien Moore and Dante Moore, the talented duo at receiver and quarterback for Oregon.

Linebaker Amare Campbell and safety Zakee Wheatley led the team in tackles and plays throughout the game, but wore down late, giving up two touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to give up an insurmountable lead.
