The Penn State football team has learned its bowl game destination. The Nittany Lions will play Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.

Since head coach James Franklin took over the Nittany Lions program in 2014, Penn State is 4-4 in bowl games. But, it has won the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl. This will be the Lions’ first Peach Bowl appearance.

Ole Miss finished the season with a 10-2 record. The Rebels lost two road games to Alabama, 24-10, and Georgia, 52-17. They do have Top 25 wins against Tulane, 37-20, and LSU, 55-49.

Led by head coach Lane Kiffin, the Rebels were fun to watch offensively this year, with quarterback Jaxon Dart throwing for nearly 3,000 yards. Running back Quinshon Judkins, who was previously recruited by Penn State, led Ole Miss in rushing with 1,052 yards. They finished No. 15 in the nation in total offense, averaging 455.4 yards per game. Just like Penn State, they also ranked among the best in the nation in turnover differential with a +9 margin. The Nittany Lions finished No. 1 in the nation in that statistic with a +18 margin.

The Rebels present an intriguing matchup for a Penn State defense that ranked among the best in the nation in many categories.

Track Penn State transfer portal activity

The NCAA transfer portal database is private. But Blue-White Illustrated and the On3 Network have you covered from start to finish when it comes to tracking Penn State player movement.

Our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways. We have articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, a dedicated transfer portal Twitter accountand the On3 Transfer Portal wire.

The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking, and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image, and likeness).

While the transfer portal officially opens for business on Dec. 4 for undergraduate players, grad transfers can enter it at any time. This specific transfer portal window runs through Jan. 2, 2024. It is important to note that a player does not need to make his decision by the deadline. Undergrads do, however, have to declare their intent to enter the portal by then. When they pick their next school or decide to return to their current one after that is up to them. A second transfer portal window will run April 15-30.
