Penn State wrestlers set for Bill Farrell Memorial Invitational, Journeymen Collegiate Classic this weekend

Penn State wrestlers, past, present, and future, will be in action at two different tournaments this weekend. Four with ties to the Nittany Lions will compete at the Bill Farrell Memorial Invitational on Saturday. The one-day men’s freestyle event is held annually at the New York Athletic Club. Nittany Lion newcomer Masanosuke Ono will compete in the 57-kilogram division. Class of 2026 verbal commit Sam Herring of Johnstown, Pa., Bishop McCort, is in the 61-kilogram bracket. Former Penn State All-American Beau Bartlett will wrestle in the 65-kilogram weight class. And, current Nittany Lion and two-time All-American Tyler Kasak is in the 70-kilogram division.

Brackets for the men’s freestyle tournament will be drawn Saturday morning after weigh-ins. Those are from 7-7:30 a.m. ET. Brackets and Results are available at the link on USABracketing.com. Four Penn State wrestlers set for Sunday tournament

Moving on to Sunday, four current Penn State wrestlers will compete at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. FLO Wrestling writes:

“This college wrestling bonanza will feature competitors from the following schools: Appalachian State, Army West Point, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Columbia, Duke, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Hofstra, Indiana, Lehigh, LIU, Lock Haven, Maryland, Navy, Northern Iowa, Penn, Penn State, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, and Virginia. Wrestlers will start in a group, usually divided into two pools of about three. Winners of those pools will face off for an opportunity to become group champions. 

“Each group is color coded, which is listed below after each wrestler’s school. Pools will be determined after weigh-ins. The groups are also subject to change before first whistle.”

Connor Pierce, Joe Sealey, Sam Beckett, and Dawson Bundy will be representing the Nittany Lions at the one-day tournament in Bethlehem. Here are their current group assignments:
