BWI Photos: Penn State opens 2023 season with 38-15 win over border rival West Virginia
Penn State head coach James Franklin and his team opened its season in style Saturday night, defeating West Virginia 38-15. The Nittany Lions weren’t perfect on the night, but the result was also never really in question, as the Mountaineers played from behind from midway through the second quarter onward.
Sophomore quarterback Drew Allar starred in his first collegiate start, completing over 70 percent of his passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns. That performance earned him Big Ten Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
