Today’s top Penn State football tweets and headlines feature plenty of new news about the Nittany Lions.

Head coach James Franklin’s team is a big favorite ahead of next Saturday’s contest at Maryland, and there is still plenty of fallout to cover following Saturday’s 33-24 loss at Ohio State.

Let’s dive into the first newsstand of the Blue-White Illustrated era here at On3.

Tweets of the day about Penn State, college football, and more

We start this Monday with the latest Nittany Lions point spread.

Penn State is an 11-point favorite for this week’s 3:30 p.m. kickoff with the Terrapins at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.

It marks the third time in the James Franklin era that the Nittany Lions are a double-digit favorite over Maryland.

Moving on to the NFL, Micah Parsons was spectacular for the Dallas Cowboys throughout a 20-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. The former Nittany Lion finished with a team-high 11 tackles (four for loss) and a quarterback hit in the victory.

Some other ex-Nittany Lions also found the end zone on Sunday. Jesse James scored for the Chicago Bears, Pat Freiermuth for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Chris Godwin for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Unrelated to Penn State but still worth pointing out, Sunday was quite the day to remember if you’re a fan of unheralded quarterbacks winning football games.

Moving on to the latest rankings news, Penn State dropped two spots in the Associated Press top-25 and six in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Quote of the day

“It’s very important to lead on this team, just to make sure that these guys kind of stay on track to do what we want to do. That’s finish the season strong, play in a bowl game and do the things that we talked about before the season. Nothing changes when we lose. We’re just trying to go out there every day, compete, and just win.”
