According to a report late Saturday night from TV news outlet WBRE/WYOU in Scranton, Pa., former Penn State receiver Julian Fleming was involved in an ATV accident on Friday night in Bradford County. His passenger, Alyssa Boyd, was killed in the crash.

From the original report:

“In a release, troopers say before 8:15 p.m., authorities were called to Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township Friday night after an ATV crash. State police explain that the ATV was traveling Northbound on Painter Lick Lane when it struck a deer that jumped out into the roadway.”

Fleming, 24, was driving at the time of the accident. He was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital with suspected serious injury, according to the Pennsylvania State Police report. Boyd, from Bloomsburg, Pa., was killed at the site of the crash.

Details of the crash from police at the scene say that Fleming was traveling on Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township when a deer jumped into the roadway. Neither Fleming nor Boyd were wearing safety equipment.

Julian Fleming praised as Penn State teammate

Brought to the Penn State football program as a transfer from Ohio State ahead of the 2024 season, Fleming was credited with helping to elevate the Nittany Lions’ receivers room thanks to his work ethic and training commitment.

“I will give Julian credit, because I do think coming into that room, he has brought some maturity into that room. He’s brought competition into that room,” Penn State head coach James Franklin said. “Sometimes you’re going into the transfer portal to fill a hole. Sometimes you’re also going into the transfer portal to create more competition, to bring out some of the confidence and the personality and the competitiveness in the room that you need. And you got to embrace that. And I think Julian’s done that in that way as well. His work ethic is second to none, and I think that that has showed up as well, and I think it’s helped the room.”

Following a fifth-year senior season in which he finished with 14 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown, he was picked up by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent.

Among his in-game contributions, his two fourth down receptions at Southern Cal helped lift the Nittany Lions to their first College Football Playoff appearance in program history.
