Penn State tweets of the day
We start with another look at the upcoming Penn State season. BWI publisher Sean Fitz recently joined JD PicKell for an ‘On3 Roundtable’ table segment. One topic discussed focused on what will define success for the Nittany Lions in 2023.
“Given the window that they think they’re in and the talent that they have on this roster, they’re shooting for the playoff. I think you can dance around that the last couple of years,” Fitz told PicKell. “Now you think you’ve got those pieces in place. The running game, the two backs are fantastic. The offensive line is experienced and they’ll be back. The defense is, I think it’s gonna be really good — we don’t talk enough about the defense.
“The elephant in the room is that two-game season in Ohio State and Michigan. I think if you win 10 games and you split those two, that might change the math a little bit. But they’re looking to get to 11 [wins] and they’re looking to take one of those games from those, premium teams in the Big Ten East. … They’re looking to make it in that four-team playoff before it expands.”

In other news, another Nittany Lions baseball player is off the board in the 2023 MLB Draft. Pitcher Daniel Ouderkirk is an 18th-round pick of the Seattle Mariners. He is the second PSU player to go so far after shortstop Jay Harry went in Round 6 to the Minnesota Twins on Monday.

Quote of the day
“It’s been about 103 days that we’re on the job. This is as exciting as the first day I got here. It’s been an awesome journey so far, it’s been a lot of fun.
“We put this group together and we’ve been working hard here for a couple of weeks. We’re building the foundation of our program with a lot of hard work, with a lot of time spent with each other, and working on the things that can show up during basketball season time. So, there’s a lot of effort on and off the court to build this the right way with our stamp on it.”
