Penn State will have some special guests on the sidelines when it returns to the practice field later today in State College. The Big Ten Network will be on hand Tuesday to film its annual preseason camp tour stop. The conference’s television arm started its tour of each team’s campus last week. The cast and crew are in town today for what will ultimately turn into an hour-long show. If this episode is like the ones from previous years, it will feature commentary from the cast about the practice they saw and the team in general before interviews with head coach James Franklin and some mixture of his coordinators and players.

According to BTN’s online television schedule, the Penn State show will air live at Midnight ET on Aug. 6. It will re-air at 2, 4, and 9 a.m. ET. More broadcasts are set for 12:30 p.m. ET, and 7 p.m. on Aug. 7. Re-airs are also set for 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 5:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. on Thur., Aug. 7.

The Nittany Lions are embarking on their second week of training camp, which features the first full week of drills. The pads are also set to come on. And, the program hopes that will equal more players becoming full participants as practices continue.

“The injury list is not great right now. But after [last Saturday’s] practice, it will change things,” Franklin said last weekend. “Because what happened is you got a number of guys, we played late in the season, as everybody knows, the longest season in Penn State history, played late into the season and we had some injuries that required some surgeries and things like that at the end of the season, and they are going to be considered limited until we’ve had a padded practice to show that they are able to do that.

“So some of these guys are limited up there. They are ready to go and I think if you asked them, they could play in a game right now. But our trainers and doctors, you know, smart, we hold them in the limited category until they actually go out and do it. So if they had an upper body extremities issue, we’ve got to get through the first day of hitting to clear them back to full go. So the list is a little bit longer than I probably would like but nothing that we’re concerned about and nothing that you guys I think aren’t already aware of.”
