Penn State will go on the road for the first time in 2025 next week when it travels to Los Angeles to take on UCLA. The Nittany Lions and Bruins meet on Oct. 4 at the Rose Bowl. Both teams are coming off a bye week ahead of the start of Big Ten play for each this coming Saturday. Head coach James Franklin’s side is hosting Oregon for its annual White Out game (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC). Interim head coach Tim Skipper’s side, meanwhile, returns to action when it faces Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., at 3:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network. When will they meet two Saturdays from now?

CBS will televise Penn State-UCLA. The contest will start at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT. A point spread for the game is not yet out at BetMGM, of course. But once one is at this time next week, the Lions will be massive road favorites no matter what happens this weekend against the Ducks, as the Bruins sit at 0-3 and won’t be favored to beat the Wildcats this Saturday in Skipper’s first game as the team’s leader following the dismissal of former head coach DeShaun Foster after Week 3.

“We need to change our style of play, as far as how hard and how fast and how physical we play,” Skipper said last week, per BWI sister site Bruin Blitz. “We have to make sure we simplify things so guys can play full speed ahead and there’s less things. That’s kind of my whole motto.

“To me, if your style of play is right, the scoreboard takes care of itself. We need to get out there and give a product that everybody’s proud of, that’s exactly all I’m worried about.”

UCLA actually leads the all-time series between the two schools 4-3. But that lead was built in the 1960s. In the only modern-era meeting between the programs, Penn State dispatched the Bruins 27-11 last year at Beaver Stadium. Quarterback Drew Allar threw a touchdown pass and also ran for a score, while Kaytron Allen added a ground game TD, as well, in that contest.
