Where are Penn State wrestlers in the rankings? A new No. 1 and more changes after National Duals

Penn State wrestlers are on the move in the latest rankings after blasting Oklahoma 45-0 last Friday night at the Bryce Jordan Center to win the program’s 72nd consecutive dual meet. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team earned bonus points in eight of their 10 match victories.
“I think our guys wrestled well,” Sanderson said after the match. “First match of the year, first folk style match of the year for a lot of these guys, first match in a long time. So yeah, I thought they did.

What changed this week?
Lilledahl moves to No. 1 across the board following some major results in the 125-pound weight class at the National Duals Invitational last weekend in Tulsa.
“This weight was a bit of a mess to sort out, but Luke Lilledahl takes over the top spot due to his third place finish last year and his notable victories over Eddie Ventresca, Matt Ramos (twice), Caleb Smith (twice), and Sheldon Seymour,” Jon Kozak writes for FLO.

“Vincent Robinson drops out of the top spot after suffering a loss to Eddie Ventresca. However, Ventresca then lost to Jore Volk twice, while Jore Volk lost to Nic Bouzakis. On top of the Volk win, Bouzakis defeated Dean Peterson. Spratley takes the biggest hit after losing to both Vincent Robinson and Dean Peterson.”
Moving on to 184, AJ Ferrari of Iowa moved up to No. 1 after his big weekend at NDIs, and the same goes for Missouri’s Aeoden Sinclair, which is why Welsh fell back a bit.
Looking ahead to the Penn State weekend
Penn State returns to action Sunday at the Army Black Knight Invitational. We expect Duke to make his debut there as a Nittany Lion, per Sanderson. The Lions will take 20 wrestlers, or two per weight class, to the one-day tournament.
“We want to just practice competing the way we want to compete,” Sanderson said. “That’s just with enthusiasm, hustle. Just go do your thing, score points. The name of the game is just keep getting better, right? And that’s what we want to do.”
