Where does Penn State rank in the updated Coaches Poll?

We’re now one-third of the way through the college football season and Penn State remains undefeated following last night’s 31-0 win against Iowa. The Nittany Lions began the 2023 season as the seventh-ranked team in the country, and with each of the six schools ranked ahead of them winning on Saturday, they remain in that spot in the updated Week 5 Coaches Poll, which dropped Sunday afternoon. Head coach James Franklin and his team now turn their attention to Northwestern, who pulled out an overtime win over Minnesota Saturday to get to 2-2 on the season.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, both Ohio State and Michigan remain ahead of the Nittany Lions, with the Wolverines at No. 2 overall and Ohio State moving up to No. 3. Michigan started off slow but was able to get past Rutgers yesterday, winning 31-7. The Buckeyes had a much tougher opponent, traveling to South Bend for what was the game of the week against Notre Dame. They won in walk-off fashion, as running back Chip Trayanum punched it in from the one-yard line as time expired.
As for the remaining Top 10, Georgia stayed in the top spot, while Florida State, Texas and USC all remain ahead of the Nittany Lions. Three Pac-12 teams sit behind Penn State in Washington, Oregon and Utah.
