It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the latest round of bowl projections ahead of selection Sunday. We brought you an initial roundup back on Monday. Back then, the majority of prognosticators picked Penn State to the Peach Bowl. But, other games were listed, too. And, while Tulane was the most common opponent for the Dec. 30 game in Atlanta, Ga., it was not unanimous. The latest look at things, which comes after the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings were released, follows suit.

Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports is sending the Lions to the Peach Bowl opposite Alabama. Scott Dochterman and Stewart Mandel of The Athletic, meanwhile, pick Penn State to play Tulane in the Peach Bowl. So does Brett McMurphy of the Action Network. Erick Smith of USA Today sees a Lions matchup with Washington in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1. And, David Kenyon of Bleacher Report thinks the same.

Selection Sunday starts with the reveal of the College Football Playoff semifinalists at Noon ET on ESPN. The New Year’s Six matchups, then, will come out at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET on the same network.

In other news, Lions junior corner Kalen King has a new NIL deal with iSlideUSA to give customizable slides to Penn State cornerbacks. Terms of the NIL deal were not disclosed.

Last not least, PSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz reportedly met with Duke about its head coach opening on Wednesday, per The Athletic.

Quote of the day

“I’ve followed Penn State my whole life. Their brand is fantastic. Any time you can put 110,000 people in the stands every weekend, it’s remarkable. Being up there for a Whiteout, it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had in this business. Great fan base. Great defense. Big-name quarterback. It would be great to have Penn State.”
