2026 four-star DL Josiah Hope flips from Purdue to Louisville

Purdue saw its top commit in the 2026 recruiting class depart late Wednesday night, as four-star defensive lineman Josiah Hope announced via X that he would flip his commitment from the Boilermakers to Louisville.
Hope earned four-star status in the initial Rivals300 earlier this month, ranking 357th in the country, as well as the third-ranked player in the state of Kentucky.

The change of heart comes just over a month after he committed to Purdue on the heels of an official visit to West Lafayette. Prior to that pledge, the North Hardin (Ky.) standout was committed to Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals for two weeks. The move was hinted at earlier this month by On3’s Steve Wiltfong, as Louisville was aiming to add Hope back into the fold.
The departure of Hope from the class now leaves the Boilermakers with 19 commits in the 2026 cycle, which still includes notable pledges from defensive linemen Jamarcus Whyce and Katrell Webb, along with Kobe Cherry, Max Carmicle and Aiden Solecki.
