2026 three-star WR Kymistrii Young flips commitment to North Carolina

Purdue saw one of its two wide receivers in the 2026 class flip on Wednesday, as three-star Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney pass catcher Kymistrii Young flipped to North Carolina.

Young had been committed to the Boilermakers since June 1, on the heels of his official visit to West Lafayette, choosing Purdue over other offers from Michigan State, South Florida, Penn State, Florida State, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and others.

An offer from North Carolina in October led to Young taking an official visit to Chapel Hill last month and the Florida receiver has now backed off his pledge to the Boilermakers in favor of the Tar Heels.

“Since the offer, we’ve been talking a lot — almost every day,” Young told Rivals. “They kept telling me they wanted me on campus, and eventually I gave in. I wanted to go check it out for myself.”

“I know where I want to be. I made my decision on Monday and have flipped my commitment to North Carolina.”

The de-commitment now leaves Purdue with one wide receiver in the 2026 class, three-star Miami Central (Fla.) Brandon Kinsey. The Boilermakers also have a trio of tight end commits in the class, with Cooper McCutchan, ArMari Towns and Dream Rashad.
