GRADES AND SUCH
• Guard Spencer Holstege was the offense’s highest-graded player, but there were no real exemplary grades.
• This was not even close to being Aidan O’Connell’s worst grade of the season. But without giving you context-less numbers here, we’ll boil PFF grades down to three tiers: Excellent, good and average. This was his fifth average game of the season to go along with two excellents on and one good.
• There were no awful individual grades, either, but Purdue’s five lowest-graded offensive players were all wide receivers and varying snap totals. Seven of Purdue’s nine-lowest grades were wide receivers. Everybody but Charlie Jones.
PURDUE PASSING GAME
• Aidan O’Connell’s passing details …
Clean: 19-35, 156 yards, INT
Pressure: 1-8, 12 yards, INT
No Blitz: 16-35, 2 INT
Blitz (9): 4-8, 18 yards
Concept …
Playaction: 6-10, 100 yards, INT
No playaction: 14-33, 68, INT
Screen: 5-6, 18
No screen: 15-37, 150, 2 INT
• O’Connell was 1-for-7 throwing the ball 20-plus yards in the air and 0-for-7 throwing the ball to his left and 3-for-7 to his right. Translation: Iowa did a great job keeping everything in the middle of the field.
• Iowa was credited with nine pressures on O’Connell, two of Marcus Mbow (and a sack) on limited snaps for him.

GRADES AND SUCH
• Nothing really good and nothing really terrible worth noting from the grades to be honest. OC Brothers was the highest grade and Scotty Humpich the lowest but their snap counts were kinda limited, so …
Based on the grades, Cory Trice did not play well.
• Thirteen missed tackles for Purdue by 11 different players, the big one really being by Semisi Fakasiieki on the long TD run.
• Pass protection has been a huge issue for Iowa, and Purdue wound up with 10 pressures and four sacks but no real high-impact plays in that regard.
• Iowa averaged 5.09 yards after contact in the run game. No bueno.
• Spencer Petras’ passing chart …
