As we start the week, 10 items of interest as Purdue (2-8 overall; 0-7 Big Ten) plays at Washington (6-3; 3-3) on Saturday (7 p.m. ET, FS1).

• Former Purdue head coach Ryan Walters is the defensive coordinator for Washington after going a dreadful 5-19 overall and 3-15 in the Big Ten from 2023-24. Also: former Purdue special teams coach Chris Petrilli is the Washington special teams coach.

Barry Odom’s younger brother, Brian Odom, is the Huskies inside linebackers coach. Oldest brother, Brad Odom, is Purdue’s director of recruiting. Barry is the middle child.

• Washington leads the all-time series, 7-2-1. The last two meetings have come in bowls, with Purdue winning in the Sun Bowl in the 2002 season (the last meeting between the teams) and the Huskies winning in the Rose Bowl in the 2000 season.

• The last time Purdue went to Seattle was 1989, when the schools had a four-game series from 1987-90. The Huskies won, 38-9, in 1989–and they won all four during that series. The QBs Purdue faced: Chris Chandler, Cary Conklin and Mark Brunell. All played in the NFL. Purdue also lost to UW in Seattle in 1987, 28-10.

• Purdue lost a two-game home-and-home series to Washington in 1971-72 when iconic Sonny Sixkiller was the Husky QB and he battled Gary Danielson. In the 1971 game, Sixkiller broke his own school record with 387 yards on 24-for-48 passing. The schools played back-to-back games in Seattle in 1961 and 1962. Purdue won in 1961–its only victory in the Emerald City–and lost in 1962.

• Purdue punter Jack McCallister was the Washington punter from 2022-24. He took part in the national title game after the 2023 season. McCallister had transferred to Nebraska after the 2024 season. But after the Cornhuskers changed special teams coaches in the spring, the Edmonds, Wash., native sought a new home and landed at Purdue. He is No. 2 in the Big Ten with a 44.8-yard average in 2025.

• Purdue is 16th in the Big Ten in scoring (20.9 ppg) but it is 10th in total offense (356.4 ypg). The disconnect? Red zone offense. Purdue is last in the Big Ten with a 73.5 percent success rate. The 50 percent TD rate is the worst in the league.

Mani Powell, Tahj Ra-El and Charles Correa are 1, 2, 3 in the Big Ten in tackles.

• Purdue has thrown a Big Ten-high 11 interceptions. Ryan Browne has eight, Malachi Singleton two and Devin Mockobee 1.

• Washington’s Demond Williams leads all Big Ten QBs in rushing with 489 yards.
