2026 prospects to know:
Purdue is looking to bolster its 2026 recruiting class in the final month and a half leading up to National Early Signing Day on December 3rd. A number of prospects have emerged as potential additions.
The main area of interest: Offensive line, defensive line and wide receiver.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers tackle Jonas Muya and Green Run (Va.) tackle and ex-Virginia Tech commit Thomas Wilder Jr., and DePaul Catholic (N.J.) and Penn State commit Marlen Bright are the three biggest names to watch here. Although, things have cooled considerably on Wilder since his initial offer, which is not surprising considering his list of potential landing spots. Bright has a long list of options, as well, but Illinois and Washington are the teams to beat there.
Muya is a more likely addition to the class, but Purdue will have to fight off Minnesota, who hosted the in-state standout for an official visit last weekend.
At wide receiver, a number of options are still at play.
Wisconsin commit and four-star receiver Jayden Petit is a real possibility for the Boilermakers. The Florida native took an official visit to Oklahoma last weekend and the Sooners could be the leader at the moment, but Purdue is looking to land an impact pass catcher to round out the position in the class.
Coastal Carolina commit and three-star receiver Jojo Johnson is another name to know. His stock is rising, picking up offers from NC State, Michigan State and Purdue in the last week or so. There is optimism that Purdue will be able to get him on campus and a real shot that he flips to the Boilermakers
Robert Haynes is another option, but has not yet netted a Purdue offer. The ex-Arkansas commit is hearing from a number of Power 4 programs, but Purdue and Kansas State are two standing out to him at the moment.
Purdue could look to fill that spot with a portal addition, instead, which would likely be a younger pass catcher. That could come if the Boilermakers don’t land a player of the caliber that they want in the 2026 class.
For the defensive line, one real possibility remains.
Carmel EDGE and Duke commit Dane Bathurst is high on Purdue and defensive ends coach Jake Trump, despite his commitment to the Blue Devils. He quietly took an unofficial visit to Purdue last Monday and was just at Vanderbilt for a game day trip over the weekend. The feeling is that Vanderbilt leads the pack for a potential flip, while Purdue and Louisville continue to push for things to shift into their favor, as well.
Penn State commits Tavian Branch and Isaac Chukwurah are unlikely to give Purdue much attention at this time, despite being offered by the Boilermakers after James Franklin was let go in Happy Valley. (DJ)
Visitors expected for Ohio State game:
Expect this weekend to be a significant recruiting weekend in West Lafayette with plenty of key targets and touted prospects on campus. That list is expected to be headlined by a pair of 2027 priority running backs, Warren Central (Ind.) Keyon Thomas and Lakota West (Oh.) Keyon Norman.
GoldandBlack.com will have more intel on the expected visitors later in the week.
