Morgan Burke headlines Purdue 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame class

Morgan Burke’s influence on Purdue athletics was profound. Now, the late Boilermaker athletics director will receive the ultimate honor of induction into the athletics department’s hall of fame.

On Tuesday, the school announced an eight-person Class of 2022 for induction into the Leroy Keyes Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame, re-branded to honor the late Purdue running back/defensive back. This class of inductees will be recognized during the men’s basketball game vs. Ohio State on Feb. 19.

2022 Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame inductees

Morgan Burke, Administration, 1993-2016*

Burke led the Purdue athletic department as director from 1993-2016, making the former Boilermaker swimmer the longest-tenured AD in school history.

Camille Cooper, Women’s Basketball, 1998-2001      

Cooper was a standout member of the 1999 NCAA Championship team and the 2001 NCAA runner-up squad. 

Joe Corso, Wrestling, 1974-76

Corso contributed significantly to the success of the Purdue and United States wrestling teams during his career.

Walter Jordan, Men’s Basketball, 1975-78

The Fort Wayne, Ind., legend holds special status in Purdue hoops lore as one of four Boilermakers with at least 1,800 points and 800 rebounds, joining Joe Barry Carroll, Terry Dischinger and JaJuan Johnson. 

Darlene (Warta) Renie, Women’s Swimming & Diving, 1987-90       

Renie is held in regard for her impressive career, long-time coaching career, and continued dedication to the Purdue Swimming & Diving programs.

Stuart Schweigert, Football, 2000-03 

One of Purdue’s biggest recruits ever, Schweigert lived up to the hype as a four-year letterwinner (2000-03). The star safety earned first-team All-Big Ten recognition in 2001 and 2003, as well as second-team All-America honors in 2003. Schweigert was part of Purdue’s 2000 Rose Bowl team and went on to start for the Raiders in the NFL.

Lauren Sesselmann, Soccer, 2001-05 

Sesselmann was a four-year letterwinner (2001-03, 05) and achieved first-team All-Big Ten status in 2003 and 2005.

Alex Yunevich, Football, 1929-31*     

An All-Big Ten fullback on Purdue’s unbeaten conference championship team of 1929, Yunevich was known as one of “four riveters” of the first Boilermaker squad to win a Big Ten championship in football.
