PURDUE COACH MATT PAINTER
PURDUE PLAYERS
Purdue closed the first half on a 23-3 run, having made its final 10 shots, while Texas Tech imploded offensively down the stretch, playing into the hands of a Boilermaker defense that protected the paint at all costs. Of Tech’s 26 first-half shots, 20 were threes. Texas Tech committed seven turnovers, most of the throwaway variety as star JT Toppin was just 2-of-7 with two turnovers. Cox and Loyer scored 10 each in the first half, as Purdue went 7-of-9 from three, at the end of the floor it couldn’t make a shot on vs. Memphis.
The second half was no different, as the Boilermakers opened with a 8-0 run while Texas Tech kept missing threes and Cluff kept rebounding the misses, when he wasn’t busy dunking.
