Purdue has its punter, landing a commitment on Saturday morning from the transfer portal from Mississippi State’s Keelan Crimmins, a native of Australian.

Crimmins will arrive in West Lafayette after the spring semester and is expected to be Purdue’s No. 1 punter after Jack Ansell–also a native of Australia.–departed with a year of eligibility. Ansell was No. 9 in the Big Ten in 2023 with a 40.7 average on 60 punts.

Crimmins is Purdue’s first commitment from the portal in the current 15-day window, which runs April 16-30.

A native of Melbourne, Australia who originally was at Victoria University, Crimmins was a true freshman last year at Mississippi State. He appeared in 12 games in 2023, punting 49 times with a 40.9-yard average that ranked No. 8 in the SEC. Only nine of his punts were returned, and 13 of his punts were inside the 20-yard line.

The 6-3, 215-pound Crimmins, who is 23 years old, was the No. 3-ranked punter out of Prokick Australia. He played Australian rules football for the Western Jets Under-18 squad. Crimmins also played cricket in Australia.
