Purdue DT great Dave Butz passes away

Former Purdue defensive tackle Dave Butz has passed away, according to a social media post by the Washington Commanders. He was 72.

Butz was a consensus All-American in 1972 as a senior, when he also was a finalist for the Lombardi Award. He was first-team All-Big Ten in 1972 and a second-team choice in 1971. Butz was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
