While Purdue looks to bounce back in West Lafayette, several former Boilermakers will look to make an impact on Sundays this fall. Some figure to play prominent roles, while others are scratching their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in week three of the NFL Season.

DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS

Barnes recorded seven tackles, including a sack and a quarterback hit, in 47 defensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps in the Lions’ 38-30 win over Baltimore on Monday night. He’ll look to continue his strong start to the season after an injury cost him most of 2024 when Detroit hosts Cleveland at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

DAVID BELL – CLEVELAND BROWNS

Bell began the season on the “reserve/non-football injury” list. His timetable for a return remains unknown.

PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Durham played 23 offensive snaps and 18 on special teams, but he recorded no stats in Tampa Bay’s 29-27 win over the Jets on Sunday. The Buccaneers will host the Eagles at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday in a battle of undefeated teams.

CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS

Jones played three snap at receiver and saw special teams action in Cincinnati’s 48-10 loss to Minnesota. He returned three kickoffs for 61 yards, one punt for nine yards and recovered a fumble. After handling kick return duties in the season opener, he did not do so in week two. The Bengals head to Denver for Monday Night Football with a 1-2 record.

SANOUSSI KANE – BALTIMORE RAVENS

Kane recorded a tackle while playing one defensive and 25 special teams snaps in the Ravens’ 38-30 loss to Detroit on Monday night. He’ll see former teammate George Karlaftis and Kansas City for the game of the week in the league on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EDT.

GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Karlaftis lined up at defensive end for 59 of 66 snaps in Kansas City’s 22-9 Sunday Night Football win over the New York Giants. He finished second on the team with 10 tackles, three for a loss, and recorded four quarterback hits. After getting in the win column, the Chiefs return home for a showdown with Baltimore at 4:25 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

MARCUS MBOW – NEW YORK GIANTS

Mbow did not start in the Giants’ 22-9 home loss to Kansas City on Sunday night, but he came off the bench to play 38 of the 66 offensive snaps at left tackle. The 0-3 Giants host the 3-0 Chargers at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

RAHEEM MOSTERT – LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

For the third week in a row, Mostert was a healthy inactive for Las Vegas’ 41-24 loss to Washington. The Raiders will host Chicago at 4:25 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

AIDAN O’CONNELL – LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

O’Connell suffered a fractured right wrist in the Raiders’ final preseason game, forcing him to miss the start of the season. He is eligible to return from injured reserve following this week, but the timetable remains unknown.

TYRONE TRACY JR. – NEW YORK GIANTS

Tracy took the field for 11 snaps before suffering a dislocated shoulder. He is expected to miss some time after rushing seven times for 29 yards and catching two passes for seven yards on Sunday. He will not suit up when New York hosts the Chargers at 1 p.m. EDT this week.

CORY TRICE JR. – PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Trice began the season on the “reserve/injured/designated for return” list and did not suit up in week three as Pittsburgh defeated New England 21-14. His status remains in question with a thigh injury ahead of the Steelers’ week four trip to Dublin, Ireland to take on the Vikings.

Practice squad: Ja’Whaun Bentley (Pittsburgh), Jalen Graham (San Francisco), Reese Taylor (Denver)

Injured and out for season: Gus Hartwig (New York Jets), Rondale Moore (Minnesota)
