Purdue in the Pros: Week 3

While Purdue looks to bounce back in West Lafayette, several former Boilermakers will look to make an impact on Sundays this fall. Some figure to play prominent roles, while others are scratching their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in week three of the NFL Season.
DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
Barnes recorded seven tackles, including a sack and a quarterback hit, in 47 defensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps in the Lions’ 38-30 win over Baltimore on Monday night. He’ll look to continue his strong start to the season after an injury cost him most of 2024 when Detroit hosts Cleveland at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

DAVID BELL – CLEVELAND BROWNS
Bell began the season on the “reserve/non-football injury” list. His timetable for a return remains unknown.
PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Durham played 23 offensive snaps and 18 on special teams, but he recorded no stats in Tampa Bay’s 29-27 win over the Jets on Sunday. The Buccaneers will host the Eagles at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday in a battle of undefeated teams.
CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Jones played three snap at receiver and saw special teams action in Cincinnati’s 48-10 loss to Minnesota. He returned three kickoffs for 61 yards, one punt for nine yards and recovered a fumble. After handling kick return duties in the season opener, he did not do so in week two. The Bengals head to Denver for Monday Night Football with a 1-2 record.
SANOUSSI KANE – BALTIMORE RAVENS
Kane recorded a tackle while playing one defensive and 25 special teams snaps in the Ravens’ 38-30 loss to Detroit on Monday night. He’ll see former teammate George Karlaftis and Kansas City for the game of the week in the league on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EDT.
GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Karlaftis lined up at defensive end for 59 of 66 snaps in Kansas City’s 22-9 Sunday Night Football win over the New York Giants. He finished second on the team with 10 tackles, three for a loss, and recorded four quarterback hits. After getting in the win column, the Chiefs return home for a showdown with Baltimore at 4:25 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
