Purdue in the Pros: Week 6

While Purdue looks to bounce back in West Lafayette, several former Boilermakers will look to make an impact on Sundays this fall. Some play prominent roles, while others struggled their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in week six of the NFL Season.
DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
A starting linebacker, Barnes lined up for 59 of 64 defensive snaps in the Lions’ 30-17 loss at the Chiefs on Sunday night. He recorded four tackles and one pressure of the passer. Detroit returns home to host Tampa Bay at 7 p.m. EDT on Monday Night Football.
DAVID BELL – CLEVELAND BROWNS
Due to an off-field injury, Bell announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday.
PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Durham lined up for 24 snaps on offense, 21 of those as a run blocker, in Tampa Bay’s 30-19 win over San Francisco. Pro Football Focus graded him as the Buccaneers’ best offensive player on Sunday, though he did not record any stats. Tampa Bay heads to Detroit for a 7 p.m. EDT kickoff on Monday night.
CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Jones saw the field as a kick and punt returner in the Bengals’ 27-18 loss to the Packers. He returned four kicks for 90 yards and a punt for 13. Cincinnati faces a quick turnaround ahead of Thursday Night Football when it hosts Pittsburgh.
SANOUSSI KANE – BALTIMORE RAVENS
Kane saw one snap on defense in addition to his usual special teams load in the Ravens’ 17-3 loss to the Rams. He did not record any stats. The banged-up Ravens will get a much-needed bye week this Sunday.
GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
In 47 of the 54 defensive snaps, Karlaftis recorded two tackles in Kansas City’s 30-17 win over Detroit. He also recorded one pressure of the passer. The Chiefs host the Raiders at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
MARCUS MBOW – NEW YORK GIANTS
Mbow played one snap on special teams as the Giants upset the Eagles 34-17 on Thursday night. He cracked the rotation early on in the season, but he’s settled into a reserve role since. New York heads west to square off with Denver at 4:05 p.m. EDT.

RAHEEM MOSTERT – LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Mostert took 13 of the Raiders’ 61 snaps at running back, carrying the ball five times. He’s been active for three straight games now. Las Vegas heads to Kansas City for a divisional game at 1 p.m. EDT this Sunday.
AIDAN O’CONNELL – LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
O’Connell suffered a fractured right wrist in the Raiders’ final preseason game, forcing him to miss the start of the season. He is eligible to return from injured reserve, but the timetable remains unknown.
TYRONE TRACY JR. – NEW YORK GIANTS
Tracy returned from a shoulder injury after missing two games as the Giants upset the Eagles 34-17. He carried four times for six yards. New York takes on Denver at 4:05 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
CORY TRICE JR. – PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Trice began the season on the “reserve/injured/designated for return” list. He is eligible to return from injured reserve, but he remains there as Pittsburgh prepares to host Cleveland at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
