Purdue in the Pros: Week 7

While Purdue looks to bounce back in West Lafayette, several former Boilermakers will look to make an impact on Sundays this fall. Some play prominent roles, while others struggled their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in week seven of the NFL Season.
DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
Barnes lined up for 61 of 69 snaps in Detroit’s 24-9 win over the Buccaneers, recording five tackles, including a sack, and a quarterback hit. The Lions will spend the upcoming week on their bye, now at 5-2 on the season.
PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Durham saw 24 snaps at tight end in Tampa Bay’s 24-9 loss at Detroit on Monday, but he did not record any stats. He also saw 12 snaps of special teams work. The Buccaneers head to New Orleans for a 4:05 p.m. EDT kickoff on Sunday.
CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Jones lined up to return two punts, but he recorded no stats in Cincinnati’s 33-31 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football. He did not appear on the kickoff return unit for the first time this season. The Bengals will host the Jets at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
SANOUSSI KANE – BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Ravens spent week seven on their bye. Through six games, Kane has recorded one tackle, spending the majority of his time on special teams. Baltimore hosts Chicago at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Karlaftis recorded one tackle during his 19 snaps in Kansas City’s 31-0 thrashing of Las Vegas. The Raiders’ 30 offensive plays run were the fewest in an NFL game since at least 2002. Now on a three-game win streak, the Chiefs will return to primetime this week for Monday Night Football against Washington.
MARCUS MBOW – NEW YORK GIANTS
Mbow did not play, though he was active, in the Giants’ 33-32 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He remains on the second unit as New York prepares to square off with Philadelphia at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
