Purdue in the Pros: Week 8

While Purdue looks to bounce back in West Lafayette, several former Boilermakers will look to make an impact on Sundays this fall. Some play prominent roles, while others struggled their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in week eight of the NFL Season.
DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
Detroit spent week eight on bye. Barnes has 43 tackles, three sacks and a pass deflection through seven games. The 5-2 Lions will host Minnesota at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.
PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Durham saw a season-high 32 snaps at tight end in Tampa Bay’s 23-3 cruise past New Orleans on Sunday, though he did not record any stats. He also added 10 snaps of special teams action. The Buccaneers will spend the upcoming week on their bye.
CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Jones lined for nine snaps on special teams in Cincinnati’s 39-38 loss to the Jets on Sunday, returning five kickoffs for 114 yards. He continues to serve as the main return man for the Bengals, who host the Bears at 1 p.m. EST this week.
SANOUSSI KANE – BALTIMORE RAVENS
Kane was a healthy scratch, listed as inactive for the Ravens’ 30-16 win over the Bears on Sunday. This marks his first inactive of the season, as he’s carved out a niche on special teams
GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Karlaftis lined up for 37 snaps in Kansas City’ 28-7 win over Washington, recording three tackles, including a sack, and a whopping nine pressures of the opposing passer. He also deflected a pass. He’ll look to continue his strong play as Kansas City heads to Buffalo for an AFC Championship Game rematch on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST.
MARCUS MBOW – NEW YORK GIANTS
Mbow played one snap at left tackle and four on special teams in the Giants’ 38-20 loss to the Eagles. He saw lots of action in weeks two and three, but this came as his first playing time since September. The Giants will host San Francisco at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.
