Purdue lands commitment from 2026 three-star TE Cooper McCutchan
Purdue football has netted a late addition to the 2026 recruiting class, as three-star Cincinnati (Oh.) Archbishop Moeller tight end Cooper McCutchan announced his commitment to the Boilermakers.
McCutchan was committed to North Carolina up until last Wednesday, when he backed off the pledge and swiftly set an unofficial visit to West Lafayette. He took an official visit to Purdue over the summer before landing in Chapel Hill, but reversed course to join Barry Odom and the Boilermakers after the weekend trip.

The Ohio native is the 71st ranked tight end and 50th player in the state, according to Rivals. McCutchan held offers from Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Washington, Indiana, Louisville, Houston, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Rutgers, Minnesota, Duke, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Virginia, Cincinnati, Kansas State and others.
McCutchan played in four games for Archbishop Moeller this season, hauling in 27 catches for 297 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, he had 35 receptions for 569 yards and seven scores as a junior.

The 6-foot-4 pass catcher is a versatile piece of Archbishop’s offense, headlined by four-star quarterback Matt Ponatoski. On film, he has seen snaps flexed out wide, in the slot and inline. McCutchan can go up and high point the football, making him a significant red zone threat to opposing defenses and has flashed as a run blocker, as well.
Purdue now has three tight end commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, with McCutchan joining fellow three-stars ArMari Towns (Southside, Ala.) and Dream Rashad (Buford, Ga.). That number could dwindle, however, as Towns and Rashad have both been pursued by other programs for months. Towns took an official visit to North Carolina a couple of weeks ago, while Rashad is set to go to Chapel Hill later this month.
