After Michigan State tied the game at 56 with just around two minutes left — after Braden Smith leaving the game due to injury for a while seemed to deflate Purdue and opened a door for MSU — Fletcher Loyer gave Purdue the lead back by nailing his only three-point of the game.

Purdue led 34-27 after a first half “highlighted” by 23 fouls. Purdue played an extended stretch without Braden Smith; Michigan State was called for four offensive fouls, all drawn by Lance Jones and three committed by star Tyson Walker.

Smith said after the game he hyper-extended his knee slightly and would be “fine” to play against Wisconsin Saturday.
“I was talking to (trainer Chad Young) and he said, ‘Can you go?'” Smith said Purdue’s locker room afterward. “I said, ‘I feel like I have to.’ That’s just how I am. Unless something’s falling off me or I’m not throwing up or something, I should be out there playing.”
