Purdue parts ways with Conard, Vice; Singleton in portal
A notable Boilermaker is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, as Purdue redshirt sophomore quarterback Malachi Singleton is planning on entering his name, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Singleton was the first portal commitment of the cycle for Barry Odom and company last December, after spending two years at Arkansas. The dual-threat signal caller played in 11 games for the Boilermakers this fall, tallying 439 passing yards, while completing 59% of his passes, with five touchdowns and two interceptions. He also amassed 202 yards and an additional score on 49 rushing attempts.
Ryan Browne was named Purdue’s starter out of fall camp, relegating Singleton to the backup role. He played significant snaps against Northwestern and Washington.
Purdue now currently has five quarterbacks for next season, with Ryan Browne, Evans Chuba, Bennett Meredith, Garyt Odom and incoming freshman Corin Berry, penciled in as the cast for quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw.
Running backs, lime coach and Purdue to part ways
Purdue will have a new running backs coach in 2026 as it has parted ways with Lamar Conard, GoldandBlack.com has learned.
Conard was the lone assistant retained from the staff of former coach Ryan Walters, who hired Conard prior to the 2023 season.
The Purdue rushing attack ranked 14th in the Big Ten (125.6 ypg) in 2025, while the offense was just 16th in scoring (18.8 ppg) in league games.
Conard is a former Boilermaker defensive back (1996-99), arriving as a walk-on under Jim Colletto. He was the first walk-on at Purdue to be awarded a scholarship under Joe Tiller, earning it in 1997.
