Purdue's years-long non-conference win streak ends at Marquette

MILWAUKEE — A non-conference loss, a feeling Purdue hadn’t felt since December of 2020 that was bound to strike again.
It happened Tuesday night in Milwaukee, as 15 turnovers drove the sixth-ranked Boilermakers’ 76-58 loss at Marquette.

Purdue had won 39 consecutive non-conference games prior.

Purdue trailed 35-28 at halftime following a turnover-marred opening 20 minutes.
After turning the ball over just three times against Alabama, the Boilermakers committed nine before halftime, leading to numerous direct scores for the Eagles, 10 points off turnovers total.
Marquette scored 18 points off turnovers on the night.
Purdue’s attention to leading scorer Kam Jones led to him wheeling and dealing inside-out to open the game. He finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, the third triple-double ever at Marquette.
Trey Kaufman-Renn led Purdue with 16 points.
