Purdue hosted the second of its two team camps on Wednesday, as eight high school programs from around Indiana came to West Lafayette to participate. Those schools included:

Ben Davis (Indianapolis)
Cardinal Ritter (Indianapolis)
Center Grove (Greenwood)
Crispus Attucks (Indianapolis)
Danville (Ind.)
Eastern (Greentown, Ind.)
Greensburg (Ind.)
Warren Central (Indianapolis)

Among the most notable of those were Ben Davis, Center Grove and Warren Central. The latter two brought a handful of Purdue targets with them to Wednesday’s camp on a muggy day in West Lafayette.

Perhaps the top name to know in the 2028 class, Center Grove quarterback Oscar Sloan, was on campus today.

The Indianapolis signal-caller is the Boilermakers’ top target at the position in the current sophomore class. In limited 11-on-11 reps, Sloan showcased strong accuracy in the short-to-intermediate passing game, and he also had a 35-yard touchdown strike against the Warren Central defense.

Sloan also holds offers from the likes of Maryland, Toledo, Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), Georgia State and App State in addition to Purdue.

Warren Central has a trio of prospects that hold offers from the Boilermakers, but none of the three were able to participate on the field today. Chief among them: 2026 three-star defensive lineman JJ Finch, who was absent from team camp altogether. Finch was on campus in May for an official visit, which was the first of his five official visits, coming before Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee and Miami (Fla.). The Boilermakers are aiming to keep one of the Indiana’s top talents from leaving the state.

Two of Finch’s teammates are also top targets of the Boilermakers: 2027 running back Keyon Thomas and 2027 defensive back Kaleb Elkins. Both prospects were on campus but did not participate on the field.

Thomas is one of the top targets of Purdue RB coach Lamar Conard in the 2027 class, while also holding offers from Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Indiana, Arizona State and others. Elkins is a top 150 recruit and four-star prospect, according to On3, holding offers from heavy-hitters like Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, among others.

Purdue defensive ends coach Jake Trump and defensive tackles coach Kelvin Green worked out two prospects from camp off to the side during team drills. 2026 three-star Center Grove defensive lineman Kobe Cherry and 2027 Warren Central EGDE/linebacker Sean Fox. Cherry was offered by the Boilermakers’ staff back in January, but his recruitment has been quiet since. That is until today, when Trump and Green put him through drills.

Cherry cut his list to three in late-May, as Steve Wiltfong reported, with Purdue, Indiana and Wisconsin all battling for his services. Cherry is a name to monitor moving forward.

Today, Fox earned his first Power 4 offer with the Boilermakers extending one, joining just Toledo as the programs in early on the 6-5, 210-pound edge/linebacker. Fox’s physical traits make for an intriguing defender off the edge, and Purdue enters the mix early. Fox, playing linebacker at Lawrence Central as a sophomore last season, tallied 105 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and three sacks.

He is the lone offer from today’s camp at the time of this writing.
