Purdue hosts impressive visitors list for Rutgers game:
Despite the loss on Saturday, Purdue hosted a number of key targets in the 2027 recruiting class for the homecoming clash against Rutgers, including a quartet of four-star prospects, in-state standouts and several others who walked away from their visits with new offers in hand.
Commits:
Four commits were in town for the Homecoming clash, quarterback Corin Berry, offensive linemen Brock Brownfield and Rico Schrieber and defensive back Dana Greenhow.
Class of 2027 prospects:
Four-star Kalamazoo Central (Mich.) offensive tackle Dewey Young
Four-star Loy Norrix (Mich.) offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey
Four-star Rocky River (Oh.) safety Tristin Hughes – Syracuse commit
Four-star Collierville (Tenn.) wide receiver Tae Walden Jr.
Three-star Noblesville (Ind.) offensive tackle Mason McDermott
Three-star Winton Woods (Oh.) interior offensive lineman Lual Aleu
Three-star Andrean (Ind.) linebacker Ethan Reyna
Three-star Guilford (Ill.) EDGE Keysan Taylor
Brother Rice (Ill.) running back Jameson Davis
Bolingbrook (Ill.) running back TJ Lewis
Liberty Center (Oh.) linebacker/running back Garrison Kruse
Three-star Farmington (Mich.) EDGE Myles Smith
Class of 2028 prospects:
Hammond Morton (Ind.) wide receiver Corderro Bennett
New offers coming out of Saturday:
Lual Aleu: 2027 three-star Winton Woods (Oh.) offensive lineman
Of the three Power 4 level offensive linemen that came to West Lafayette this weekend, just Lual Aleu netted an offer. Somewhat surprising, given the stocks of Jakari Lipsey and Mason McDermott, but I digress. Aleu is an athletic lineman that has also picked up offers from North Carolina, Louisville, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Missouri, Pitt, Maryland and others.

Corderro Bennett: 2028 Hammond-Morton (Ind.) wide receiver
Purdue is getting in early with in-state 2028 pass catcher Corderro Bennett, and it’s not hard to see why. The Hammond product is 6 feet, 5 inches and has tallied 15 catches for 293 yards and five scores as a sophomore this season. The Boilermakers joined Kentucky as the first two offers for Bennett, who could emerge as one of the top pass catchers in the state in this year’s sophomore class.
Tristin Hughes: 2027 four-star Rocky River (Oh.) safety – Syracuse commit
Hughes was on offer watch, for obvious reasons, as he made the trip to West Lafayette despite his commitment to Syracuse. The Ohio native now has two Power 4 offers, and is in constant communication with Michigan State, who could emerge as the third school in the mix. Hughes was impressed with the coaching staff, who has pursued him since he pledged to Fran Brown and the Orange.
Purdue is a significant threat to swipe Hughes away from Syracuse, but do not expect anything soon, as he looks to let the recruiting process play out.

Myles Smith: 2027 three-star Farmington (Mich.) EDGE
Smith is perhaps the highest-touted player to earn an offer this weekend, holding other offers from Indiana, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Missouri, West Virginia, and Cincinnati. He has earned recognition from SEC programs, but staying closer to home is important to him, leading to a potential Big Ten pathway for his collegiate career. Smith is a versatile edge rusher with impressive length and athleticism that Jake Trump covets in recruits.

Greenhow, Young and Rashad notes:
After the three-star defensive back commit was looking like he was going to flip to West Virginia, there is now optimism that Purdue is going to be able to hang onto one of its three pledges in the secondary.
Greenhow was back on campus this weekend and indications are that the visit went very well. He previously took an official visit with the Mountaineers, who pose a threat to the Sandy Creek (Ga.) safety’s commitment to the Boilermakers.
I would consider this safe for now, but never rule anything out in recruiting.
Also, a side-note on Dream Rashad and Kymistrii Young. The pass catching tandem has received interest from other programs despite their pledges to Purdue. Rashad has been offered by North Carolina State and UCF, while Young is being pursued by North Carolina and North Carolina State.
Young is a big flight risk, while I am not sure that Rashad will jump ship at the moment. That would leave Purdue scrambling to find pass catchers very late in the cycle, while it still searches for another receiver prior to any changes.
