Big Ten slugger commits to South Carolina

With the transfer portal officially set to open on Monday, South Carolina has already landed two commitments, the second from Purdue slugger Logan Sutter.
“I’m excited to announce I’ll be transferring to South Carolina. Go Cocks!” Sutter said in an X post (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday.
Sutter began his college career at Folsom Lake College in the Sacramento area, where he hit .390 with 11 homers and 69 RBI as the Big 8 Conference MVP in 2023. He was also a Junior College All-American and a two-time first-team all-conference performer.
Over the last two seasons at Purdue, Sutter has hit .349 with 23 homers and 99 RBI in 103 career games with the Boilermakers.

Most of his production came this season as the Loomis, CA native hit .367 with 15 homers, 62 RBI and a whooping 1.180 OPS. He had a 1.000-plus OPS in both seasons at Purdue. He was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year after the success he had at the plate in 2025.
Sutter can play both corner infield spots and has spent some time as a designated hitter. Most of his action in 2025 came at first base, where he played for 47 games. But he saw some time at third base with seven games under his belt when he was at Purdue.
This will be a very active offseason for South Carolina as it looks to bounce back from a disappointing 28-29 record this season. The Gamecocks have also added Louisiana-Monroe reliever Josh Gregoire as their first commitment of the transfer portal cycle.
