Despite a late push from Lane Kiffin, Landon Duckworth to sign with South Carolina
Despite a late push from Lane Kiffin and LSU, South Carolina quarterback commit Landon Duckworth will sign with the Gamecocks on Thursday afternoon, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett late Thursday morning.
Duckworth will make the news official at 3 p.m. ET today, per Fawcett.
The four-star Jackson (Ala.) quarterback committed to South Carolina in July and appeared set to sign with the program on Wednesday.
But then news broke late Tuesday night that LSU was making a late push and that he might not sign on Wednesday.
That buzz quickly died down hours later, when GamecockCentral and others heard Duckworth was still set to sign with the Gamecocks on Wednesday morning. Duckworth also told On3’s Chad Simmons on Tuesday that he was signing with South Carolina.

But as early morning turned to late morning on Wednesday, Duckworth still had not sent in his letter of intent to the Gamecocks. And On3’s Steve Wiltfong put in an RPM Prediction for LSU to land the South Carolina commit.
But the Gamecocks staff, as GamecockCentral reported Wednesday night, remained in contact with the Duckworth camp and kept battling has his recruitment carried over into Thursday.
Now it appears they’ve won this one. It will be official in a few hours.
Duckworth is a consensus four-star prospect. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, he is the class of 2026’s No. 144 overall prospect. He’s also No. 10 nationally among quarterbacks and No. 6, regardless of position, in Alabama.
