Everything LaNorris Sellers said after Clemson
LaNorris Sellers passed for a career-high 381 yards and had two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions in the 28-14 loss to Clemson. Here’s everything he said after the game.
Question: There was a fourth down and three, and you threw over the middle, and it got batted down. What happened there?
Sellers: It just got batted down. I don’t know what else to say. It got batted down.
Question: With the pick six, what did you see there? Was it a bad luck kind of play?
Sellers: I think it was just a bad luck kind of play. It was man coverage. We knew they’d have tight coverage, just one-on-one opportunities, balls like that.
Question: Do you feel like you’ve regressed in 2025 compared to last year?
Sellers: No, I wouldn’t say regress. I mean, defenses get paid, too. They’re not going to let me do what I did to them in the previous year. They had a game plan for it. It’s going to be better.
Question: Are you staying at South Carolina next year?
Sellers: (Laughs) I mean… (laughs) When the time comes to make a decision, I’ll make a decision, whatever’s best for me.
Question: What will go into that decision-making process? What are the next steps for you in figuring everything out?
Sellers: I’ve got a couple of exams next week, so I’m focused on them right now. You have December to make a decision, January. Just whatever’s best.
Question: How did you feel about the game and how you handled Clemson’s pressure today?
Sellers: I think we did pretty good. I think we had some stuff that just took us out of it, no matter if it was a penalty or a negative play, or a no-gain play. Stuff like that.
Question: Quarterbacks get a lot of praise with the good and a lot of criticism with the bad. With the way this season went, how much of that responsibility do you feel like you shouldered?
Sellers: Yeah, a lot, like you said. You look at the head coach, the coordinators, and then the quarterback. I knew that. (It’s) the position I chose. I knew what came with it when I chose the positions. Just handle every day.
Question: How much has Coach Beamer talked with you about his process of hiring the next offensive coordinator, and how much will you be a part of some of those conversations?

Sellers: We talked after the decision with Coach Shula was made, we talked. He told me (when he was) in contact with guys, just sending me guys here and there. He said after the season is when he’s gonna really narrow down those guys and make a decision.
Question: What are your thoughts on the job Mike Furrey did, taking over as the play caller? Would you like to see him be the next offensive coordinator here?
Sellers: I love him. He’s a great guy. I’m glad we had his time together. I’ve gotten to know him a little bit more. I talked to him a little bit when he was the wide receivers coach, but he’s obviously more in our meetings now, just picking our brains. I loved having him as an OC. He likes to take shots and give guys one-on-one opportunities. It’s not my decision to make, but whatever Beamer decides to do, I’m with it.
Question: Just to clarify, so has Beamer sent you names, and you watch film on guys?
Sellers: No, it’s kind of like we watch game stuf,f and he’s like, I like what they’re doing on offense. Little stuff like that.
Question: Coach Beamer’s been adamant that you guys are really close to being a good playoff-level team. From a player’s perspective, does it feel like you guys are as close as he’s saying?
Sellers: Yes, it’s the same. We see what he sees. It’s not just coaches speak. We watch the film, and it’s kind of like, dang, we could have had this play on third down. If we got this first down, what would have happened? Or if we’re in the red zone. Just stuff like that, little things.
Question: What are some of the positives you can take out of this season?
Sellers: We didn’t just roll over and take it. We stood in the fight, every game, pretty much. I think we were either tied or had a lead or something in the fourth quarter. Just one or two plays in the fourth quarter that we didn’t have, but we stood and fought.
