Everything LaNorris Sellers said after the win over Coastal

In South Carolina’s 51-7 win over Coastal Carolina, LaNorris Sellers passed for 274 yards and ran for another 82 while accounting for four touchdowns. Here’s what he said after the game.
Question: I’m sure you’ve had that first play in the playbook for a while. How good did it feel to throw that out there and score on the first play?
Sellers: It was just an RPO based off of the leverage of the defender that they had over him. He played the run, so I just spread it out there.
Question: Who is the fastest (between LaNorris and Jayden)? Growing up, did you ever dream of throwing a touchdown pass to him?
Both: I’m the fastest.
LaNorris Sellers: I’m the fastest. We didn’t play together until high school, so from then until now, it’s the first time for stuff.
Question: 127 yards and a touchdown between the two of you. Is that the most yards you’ve combined for?
Sellers: My senior year in state, I don’t know how many yards he had, but he had more than 120. (Jayden: I’m pretty sure I had like 130 and two touchdowns.)
Question: When you start the game like you did, first play, first pass, touchdown. What does that do as far as creating excitement that just runs through the whole team?
Sellers: It just makes it easier. When you get a fast start, it’s a momentum game, so if you get momentum from the jump, you’ll be in pretty good shape as long as you keep the momentum.
Question: There haven’t been a lot of South Carolina quarterbacks who have beaten Clemson multiple times. What would it mean to you to join that fraternity?
Sellers: Yeah, it would mean a lot. It’s an instate rivalry game, we beat them last year, (inaudible). Obviously, we want to do that again.
Question: What do you like about what Mike Furrey is doing when it comes to play calling?
Sellers: He’s getting guys in space and just allowing for one-on-one opportunities. All college defenses, they get to the ball pretty quick. You can’t just get a lot of guys in space and expect them to miss. You’ve got to get one-on-one opportunities and our guys versus their guys.
Question: How has your relationship with Coach Furrey grown in the last few weeks?
Sellers: It’s good. We spend a lot of time together, just being in the facility, like meeting extra, stuff like that. Just him talking, letting me know what he sees, because he’s from a wide receiver standpoint, and he also played defense. Just knowing from his standpoint what a wide receiver would look for, stuff like that, then getting my input on stuff like that.
Question: Do you have a timeline for deciding what your future will be?
Sellers: I’m just focused on the season right now. Like I said, when the time comes, I’ll make that decision.

Question: What have you seen in Jayden’s development as one of your go-to receivers?
Sellers: Yeah, just the growth from January to now. We played together in high school so just from then, and then, obviously, my brother. So we talk a lot, picking his brain, seeing what he’s thinking, what he sees, stuff like that. Not just him, all the receivers, really. But, yeah, I’ll trust him just because he’s my blood.
Question: How long have you had the Brady Hunt tush push in the playbook?
Sellers: It’s just a quarterback sneak. They would do it with me. It’s just switching guys in and out of there. That’s all it was.
Question: Have you had the quarterback sneak in the playbook?
Sellers: Yeah. I think everybody has that. It’s just a common football play.
Question: I think this was the first time you’ve run it.
Sellers: It was.
Question: Shane Beamer was talking about how this has been an emotional season. How much does a win like this ease the tension going into Clemson week?
Sellers: It means a lot, the way we went out there after last week. Like, some teams could go there and just (play) like the season’s over, blah, blah, blah. But we’ve still got stuff to play for, still playing for the names on our jerseys, stuff like that. It’s always good to go out there.
Question: Jayden, do you have any advice for your brother about what he should do next season?
Jayden Sellers: Nah. Not really.
Question: What’s your desire?
Jayden Sellers: Make sure we play together.
