Four-star cornerback Kosci Barnes signs with South Carolina
It’s National Signing Day in South Carolina, and signatures from prospects continue to roll in for Shane Beamer’s Gamecock football program.
The latest player to sign his paperwork is cornerback Kosci Barnes, who hails from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Barnes is rated by the Rivals Industry Ranking as a four-star prospect. He is ranked No. 291 nationally, No. 14 in North Carolina, and No. 35 among cornerbacks in the class of 2026.
Barnes was a late riser in the recruiting rankings. The Gamecocks landed his commitment when he was still a three-star recruit. Now, at Signing Day, he is a four-star. He has positional versatility in the secondary but should begin his career as a corner with USC. At 6-2 and 185 pounds, Barnes has the size that defensive backs coach Torrian Gray covets.

Why South Carolina? “I committed to South Carolina because it felt like family,” he told Rivals. “The culture there, the passion they have for football, and how I was treated by the coaches were some of the other reasons I chose South Carolina.”
