Friday update on South Carolina starting LT Josiah Thompson

One day after first showing up as questionable on Thursday’s SEC availability report, South Carolina starting left tackle Josiah Thompson was cleared on Friday for Saturday’s matchup with Texas A&M.
With Thompson removed from Friday’s availability report (meaning he’s expected to be available), just three Gamecocks were listed.
Reserve redshirt freshman defensive back Jalewis Solomon was ruled out after being listed as doubtful on Thursday.
Offensive tackles Jatavius Shivers and Cason Henry were already ruled out on Wednesday. Henry is out for the rest of the season.
“It was pretty good yesterday and then we had some things that flared up in practice today,” head coach Beamer said Thursday night. “Yeah, Shivers and Henry will be out. Josiah Thompson’s a little bit banged up. He’ll be listed on our injury report tonight when it comes out, that we have to release. He’ll be on that. Hopeful for him on Saturday, it’s nothing major. And then Jalewis Solomon, one of our special teams players and young defensive backs, he aggravated something in practice today, so I would say he will be doubtful on Saturday.”
Thompson was dinged up in Carolina’s game against Ole Miss and was replaced in the second half by true freshman Shed Sarratt.
South Carolina is also set to get wide receiver Jayden Sellers and defensive back and special teams standout Buddy Mack III back for this weekend’s matchup with Texas A&M, according to Wednesday’s SEC availability report, after both missed the Ole Miss game two weekends ago.

“But outside of (the three who are listed), for it to be Game 10 in November, after the stretch that we’ve just had in October, feel fortunate that we are where we are,” Beamer continued on Thursday. “But I hate that I just named three offensive tackles that are either going to be out or could be out on Saturday, especially against this front four.”
Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver was upgraded from questionable to probable on Friday.

A final update to the SEC availability report will be released 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturday.
Last season, the SEC approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
South Carolina and Texas A&M are set for a noon kickoff with ESPN carrying the action.
