Young alumni "huge" for atmosphere, says Beamer

With preseason practice underway and year two of the Shane Beamer era set to kick off on September 3, South Carolina fans are picking up Gamecock football tickets at a rapid pace.
According to the University of South Carolina ticket office, Gamecock football ticket sales across multiple segments of South Carolina’s fan base – boosters and parents, for example – are up, but one critical faction of the base is lagging behind.
The athletics department this week surpassed the 40,000 mark in season ticket sales to South Carolina fans. Yet, not as many young alumni from the school have jumped in to purchase season tickets, according to data provided to GamecockCentral.com.
UofSC defines young alumni for the purpose of season tickets as individuals who graduated from any campus from 2018 to 2022.
Head football coach Shane Beamer on Tuesday spoke to how important the university’s young alumni are to not only a great game day atmosphere on Saturdays in Columbia, but also to the future.
“Huge. It’s the next generation. We want to continue to bring generations upon generations of people here,” said Beamer. “These young alumni, they love this place, they create a great home field advantage like the rest of our fan base does in Williams-Brice Stadium. We want this young alumni group to continue to come and feel at home here and then as they grow older and have children, bring their children and continue to make this just an amazing place to be on Saturdays.”

Gamecock fans in the young alumni category are eligible to purchase two Gamecock football season tickets at a rate of $225 per ticket. That discount can be extended to a total of four tickets, and that’s 50 percent off the regular season ticket price.
A block of reserved seats in the 500 east upper level will be made available for the Young Alumni program from which to select.
Following their final year of eligibility, ticket holders may join the Gamecock Club to maintain their season tickets at the regular price.
